MISSION STATEMENT
MUSE Film and Television, a not-for-profit company, uses film and digital media to create quality films on the visual arts and culture. MUSE initiates projects, manages their production and distribution, and disseminates them to the broadest possible audience.
As a leading executive production company in New York City, MUSE cošrdinates and manages the production of films from inception to completion by creating partnerships with independent filmmakers, technical consultants, content advisors, broadcasters, and distributors. Using the most advanced technologies available, MUSE enriches its film projects through parallel productions, including books, DVDs, and web sites.
MUSE's mission is based on the belief that film is one of the most important ways to appreciate and understand art. By examining art through historical and cultural contexts, MUSE documentaries seek to enhance the art experience.
History
Founded in 1992 by Karl Katz, MUSE brings an experienced network of talent to the production and distribution of documentaries and educational programs. Katz is the former Chairman for Special Projects at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and the founder and director of the Museum's Office of Film and Television, and The Program for Art on Film, the Museum's joint venture with the J. Paul Getty Trust.
MUSE was created with the goal of producing necessary and innovative programs on the arts and making them available to the public through broadcast and educational markets world wide.
Support
As a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) company, MUSE relies on public support from government grants, private support from foundations and individuals, and seeks additional support from corporate sponsors and domestic and international co-production relationships. MUSE has a spectrum of wonderful projects, but is continually challenged in its efforts to raise necessary project and overhead funds without compromising the quality of its films, or its ancillary efforts. |
