MUSE Founder and Executive Director Karl Katz talks about illustrated and illuminated manuscripts.
Filmmakers have overlooked manuscripts as a subject. "Starting with the Book of Dead in Egypt from 1500 - 2000 BC...these are extraordinary examples of great works of art that you never see....They're hidden away in libraries and museums....What we're trying to do at MUSE is to produce a series of films on manuscripts that will give you an insight into the world of 1000 BC or 1000 AD."
MUSE Founder and Executive Director Karl Katz talks about Ai Weiwei & Wangechi.
Ai Wewei was such an important project that we had to clear the decks to do it. He is a contrarian with a loud voice in a vast country. Wangechi Mutu is a feminine black woman from Africa who looks at Africa in 21st century ways that will make her art an important statement for women.
